22 August 2010 – Spaghetti with tomato sauce; haricots with olives and garlic

D was trying to convince his truck that the new fuel pump he put in was a good thing, and didn’t get to walking home till well after 7pm. Fortunately, he remembered the spaghetti sauce in the fridge from two days ago (which I reminded him of today – perhaps did him a favor?) so he heated that up. He added some brown mushrooms, but I don’t think I really tasted them so much. The sauce was really yummy, though.

I saw the mushrooms cooking and thought they were for the haricots again, but no: he cooked the beans with chopped garlic and olives, in a mimic (sans anchovies) of last night’s pasta sauce. They were great!

I tasted the wine without looking at what it was – always a good idea – and I really liked it. Turned out to be another bottle of a GroceOut cheapo, an Aglianico called “Borgo di Colloredo” that R suggested we try awhile ago. I do hope they still have it, but it seems unlikely.
