3 November 2010 – Baguette and cheeses; fresh tomatoes

{Written on the 10th}

I wanted to fit in a workout and we were out of bread, so I asked D if he could pick up a baguette at the Bowl on his way home, and take out two good cheeses we had on hand at lunchtime, so they would warm up nicely. We had gotten a discount bit of Humboldt Fog at Cheese Board on Saturday, and D had bought the “Truffle Tremor” – a goat cheese – at the Bowl last week. Both excellent cheeses – the TT we’d never had before.

I had bought Dirty Girl tomatoes again at the Derby Street market on Tuesday, so we had those. I also made up – I think it was this evening – some marinated olives from a recipe by Dean and Deluca – just lemon, oil, and hot pepper flakes, over picholine olives from Cheese Board. D bought some smoked/flavored almonds at the Bowl, too, and they were great.

D chose this wine for the meal:

It’s been a long time now, but as I recall, we liked it fine.
