21 December 2010 – Falafel with salads and pitas at Taim

My friend A recommended this wonderful little hole-in-the-wall restaurant on Waverly in Manhattan.

We chose the mixed falafel plate, which had three different kinds of falafel and three different sauces…

… an excellent hummus, “Israeli salad” that looked like tomatoes and cucumbers, but the red things turned out to be watermelon. It was great. There was also a refreshing tabouli. The pitas were unusual to me – thick and bready and whole wheat – and quite delicious. We each had a ginger something… lemonade?.. that was very refreshing.

Sharing a dinner left us room for the French fries with saffron aioli, which we enjoyed – the fries were just good fries, but the aioli was an amazing addition. There was exactly enough for the huge bowl of fries, t00.
