Yummy leftovers gmish – 26 Sept 2011

D, who managed to cut his thumb on the table saw yesterday (not that badly, considering the possibilities), nevertheless also managed to make a very tasty dinner tonight.

He cut up some more of the leftover beef from Friday night’s dinner with M&N, and cooked it into a nice rice dish. He started by cooking sliced lemon grass, sliced garlic, onions, and {other stuff – not sure, while editing on 15 Oct, what the * was for here}, in peanut oil, and then adding bite-sized bits of the beef. At the same time, he boiled some haricots (another discount bag for $1.39/lb at the Bowl) for about a minute. He mixed the haricots and the beef mixture with the pilaf from Saturday night. It was really an excellent combination!

D opened a bottle of Epicuro Aglianico (2009) that he bought recently at Trader Joe’s. It’s a terrific value – very tasty wine at a low price ($5.99?)
