Burrito alpastor at the West Berkeley candidates’ party – 27 June 2012

Tonight was a party at Urban Ore in support of the fight of West Berkeley residents and businesses against the big developers and the city officials who are rolling out the red carpet for them. The Tacos El Rey taco truck was there to feed us.

D and I split a Super Burrito Alpastor – a burrito with spicy pork, beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. It was positively scrumptious! There were radish and carrot slices and a jarred jalapeno on the side, and lime to squeeze over. I got one radish and a couple bites of the jalapeno…

There were cupcakes! I had more than one. Ok, more than two. Delicious little nuggets!

Our hosts provided wine, beer, orange juice, and other friendly drinks. I had the Unruly zin with dinner, and small glasses of the cab and the ‘red wine’ afterwards. They were all tasty – very drinkable and sort of fruity, but nothing to write home about. No edge or special character to them.
