Spaghetti with mushrooms, pine nuts, parsley, and pecorino; broccoli stems – 27 January 2014

D got home pretty late, but quickly had dinner planned and on the stove, and then cooked.

setting140127This is his invention, his signature pasta, which is described here and here and multiple other places on this blog. He cooks mushrooms, pine nuts, and parsley in olive oil, and shaves (with a carrot peeler) Pecorino Romano to strew over the top. He likes to grind pepper over the cheese, too. It’s really an excellent dish.

We had a Grocery Outlet wine, Petit Lixandre Bordeaux (2011). It was fine, but nothing to write home about. $6. Also in the picture is the Acme rustic sweet baguette piece I defrosted at D’s request. I took the picture before the dining room light was on so this is lighted just from the kitchen.
