Spaghetti with mushrooms and cannellini; Brussels sprouts – 12 March 2014

main140312D made up a pasta sauce using mushrooms cooked in olive oil, parsley, and I think pine nuts, plus some cannellini he had boiled with rosemary and olive oil. It was a tasty sauce. He said perhaps it should have pecorino shaved over the top, but it was good as it was (especially after some added salt).

setting140312…That’s as far as I got on a quick, initial note. Now it’s the 24th. Obviously from the title (and picture), we had Brussels sprouts, and D usually boils them and then butters and salts them. Now to see if we opened a bottle of wine for this meal…




Oh, yes – and a good one. Pont de Nyons Cotes du Rhone, which I think we got at The Wine Mine at a tasting. This was also good when we had the last 1/3 bottle a day or two later. However, D points out that, though this was perfectly good, we have wines we like as well or better at lower prices than its $11. Alas.
