Spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce; salad – 20 March 2014

First day of spring!

main140320D made this red sauce a few days ago, using bargain-bag tomatoes he found at the Bowl. It has mushrooms in it, and absolutely tons of oregano, b/c he accidentally pulled up a bunch of oregano while weeding on the weekend. Also some thyme (we had to pull out the stems). He served this over spaghetti, and ground parmaggiano over the top.

salad140320-closeupHe made another nice salad using the lettuce pillow that R shared with us yesterday. He added sliced radishes and fennel, and used more of the oregano pesto in the dressing – he says this is his favorite use of that pesto.

setting140320We had a new Acme Italian Batard with dinner, and the leftover 1/3 bottles of the Chianti and the Bordeaux, both of which were still good, and which were amazingly different from each other. Good dinner.



I describe this serving style as “unceremonious” 😉


Later, we had the rest of those nice sugar cookies R made the other day. They are kind of hollow on the inside and crispy on the bottom, and quite delicious!
