First day of spring!
D made this red sauce a few days ago, using bargain-bag tomatoes he found at the Bowl. It has mushrooms in it, and absolutely tons of oregano, b/c he accidentally pulled up a bunch of oregano while weeding on the weekend. Also some thyme (we had to pull out the stems). He served this over spaghetti, and ground parmaggiano over the top.
He made another nice salad using the lettuce pillow that R shared with us yesterday. He added sliced radishes and fennel, and used more of the oregano pesto in the dressing – he says this is his favorite use of that pesto.
We had a new Acme Italian Batard with dinner, and the leftover 1/3 bottles of the Chianti and the Bordeaux, both of which were still good, and which were amazingly different from each other. Good dinner.
I describe this serving style as “unceremonious” 😉
Later, we had the rest of those nice sugar cookies R made the other day. They are kind of hollow on the inside and crispy on the bottom, and quite delicious!
