D used up more of the cranberry beans he cooked on Friday for the bruschettae. He heated them in oil with parsley and some bread crumbs he cut from old, dried bread we have lying around. Great pasta!
I stopped at The Wine Mine on my way home and picked up another bottle of the wine we had Saturday night*, plus another – a 2011 Santadi Carignano del Sulcis “Grotto Rosso” – we’d gotten at the same tasting a couple weeks ago. The Carignano was their last bottle, and as an “orphan,” was marked down $2 to $10. D opened this for dinner and put 2/3 of it in the rolly decanter to air, storing away the other 1/3 for future use. It is a mild wine without a lot of edge to it, but very enjoyable and easy to drink.
