Spaghetti with fresh heirloom tomato sauce; bruschetta with cranberry beans and mushrooms – 16 September 2014

main140916D found another bag of discounted tomatoes – these, heirlooms – at the Bowl, so he made a pasta sauce with them. main140916-2setting140916

He cooked onions and garlic, then added the tomatoes (skinned and chopped) and a lot of basil, presumably salt and pepper, and cooked them down. They were very juicy, but after an hour they made a thick sauce. It was very tasty! He just cooked Costco spaghetti (Garofalo) to go with this as usual.



He used up more of the cranberry beans from Friday, heating them with some sliced mushrooms as they cooked, and served on a slice of bread from the Acme Italian Batard from yesterday. Tasty dinner! He brought up a bottle of Cosentino’s “Ol’ Red” (from Grocery Outlet) which we always enjoy.
